Dire Dawa lands a deal for Sisay Demisse

National League champions Dire Dawa Kenema acquired the service of former Electric and Ethiopia Bunna defender Sisay Demisse. Sisay who spent the last two seasons at the Army side Mekelakeya was a free agent after leaving Mekelakeya on June. The experienced defender can play both at center back and right back. He won the Premier League with Ethiopia Bunna in 2011.
On the other news Dire Dawa Kenema apart from signing new players the club is trying to convince players to extend their contracts. Most of the players still have a year remaining in their contract. Although the players have a remaining year at their contract some Premier League clubs are setting their eyes on them. The club is trying to raise the salary of the players to keep them for the upcoming season.
The National League MVP Yehunae Endeshaw and some anonymous players agreed the lucrative pay raise that was proposed by the club. However, the National League top goal scorer Belay Abayneh wants to quit Dire Dawa for a better club. The player told Soccer Ethiopia the hot weather of the city of Dire Dawa is unbearable and he is looking for other options.
“The club proposed to raise my salary but the hot weather of the city is not cushy so I want to leave. If I manage to terminate my remaining 1 year contract in mutual consent then I will leave for a better environment. But if the club decided against my will then I will respect my contract.” said Belay Abayneh.
Dire Dawa Kenema will start pre-season camping after the Ethiopian New Year.
