The 25 thousand seater Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi Stadium will be inaugurated on January 14. The stadium is located in Woldia and it took 4 and half years to complete the construction of the multi task sport center.
In a press conference held at Sheraton Addis MIDROC Technology Group CEO Arega Yirdaw (Dr.) stated the stadium is built solely by Ethiopians. “The Stadium that has been built in Woldia is named after Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi. The stadium construction is financed by Sheikh Mohammed. “We manage to build a special stadium with the help of 10 MIDROC Technology Group companies,” said Dr. Arega.
The stadium’s construction is financed by Ethiopian born Saudi business tycoon Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi. The stadium has a capacity of holding 25,155 spectators likewise it holds ground tennis court, basketball court, Olympic size swimming pool, volleyball field, hand ball field and guest house. The stadium has an all-round canopy which is a poly carbonic cover. The stadium met FIFA and IAAF requirements as stated on the presser. It has also contain 4 dressing room, 156 floodlights, 8 sound proof press rooms, VIP seats, state of the art drainage system, parking lots, internet and telephone services and 36 water tankers.The construction is carried out by Huda Real Estate with a half billion Ethiopia birr costing in the process.
The stadium is set to be inaugurated on January 14 but the first competitive game will be staged on January 15 as Woldia takes on Dire Dawa Ketema on Week 11 of the Ethiopian Premier League fixture.
