Geatneh received his accolade from Soccer Ethiopia’s editor Daniel Mesfin. Getaneh expressed his delight following receiving the award. “I am very happy to be voted as Football Person of the year. It is a pleasure to be the first male to win the award. I am very content that I have had a superb season but I have remorse that none of my successes could take Ethiopia to AfCON. If we had secured qualification to AfCON, I would have been much happier. The award will be a motivation to me to perform better and win other accolades this season,” said Getaneh.
