Newly promoted side Fasil Ketema condemned Ethiopia Bunna 1-0 on round 3 of the Ethiopian Premier League tie played out in Addis Ababa Stadium. Ethiopia Bunna’s woes continued as a solitary goal from Ermias Hailu just handed the Coffee club their second loss of the season.
The homers looked cool in possession but created very few goal scoring chances in the first half. Cameroonian Yebun William should have given Bunna the lead in the 38th minute when a sureb ball from Gatoch Panom found him in front of the goalmouth. Nonetheless the former JSM Bejaia striker blasts over from close range.
Ermias Hailu handed the Gondar club the lead through a tap in four minutes after the recess. Togolese forward Edom Hosorouvi beat his marker on the right flank before assisting Ermias for the crucial game winner. Second half substitute Sadik Secho almost leveled his side in the 67th minute but Fasil’s custodian Yohannis Shikur pulled off an astounding save to protect the lead. Ethiopia Bunna’s midfielder Amanuel Yohannis struck narrowly wide from long range four minutes later. The visitors had it all sealed in the 73rd minute but Yared Bayeh’s long range free kick struck the upright.
Fasil Ketema got off to a losing start in the season’s opener but they managed to pull off the biggest upset of the week as Bunna further plunged back in the log table. Serbian manage Nebojša Vučićevič admitted his charges started the league on the wrong foot after having collecting a single point from three games.
