Getaneh Kebede’s brace inspired Dedebit a 2-0 win over Hawassa Ketema on week 4 tie played at the Addis Ababa Stadium on Saturday, December 3. The Blues managed to collect maximum points at the wake of firing Coach Yoahnnis Sahle on the beginning of the week. Ethiopian international Getaneh scored in each half to hand interim coach Asrat Haile a victory on his first game in charge of Dedebit.
Hawassa Ketema dominated the proceedings from the onset. However, there poor attacking proficiency at the final third let them down ultimately even though they enjoyed much of the possession throughout the entire game. Firew Solomon came very close to open the score in the 10th minute when he shots from outside the box but Ghanaian goalie Clement Ashate collected the ball easily. Dedebit took the lead in the 24th minute through Getaneh Kebede’s strike. Asrat Megerssa and Shemkit Gugesa played a one two before the later assisting Getaneh for the goal.
With a goal down Hawassa Ketema kept on pressuring the homers. Daniel Derebe’s strike from a tight angle was carried away by a cautious Clement minute after the half hour mark. Left back Desta Yoahnnis has also skied a good goal scoring opportunity at stroke of half time.
After the interval Hawassa continued to chase a leveler while Dedebit deployed a more counter attacking football. Firew should have done better to equalize but his efforts in the 48th and 56th minute were futile. A pass from Dawit Fikadu found unmarked Getaneh who slotted home from close range on a rushing Hawassa Ketema’s Togolese custodian Mensah Shouhoho eight minutes from time.
Getaneh took his tally to five goals in four games as he tops the goal scoring chart. The win took Dedebit temporarily to second place with 7 points while Hawassa Ketema, who suffered their second loss of the season, are 11th with 3 points.
