Asrat Abate Succeeds Seyoum Kebede at Addis Ababa Ketema

Addis Ababa Ketema has appointed Asrat Abate to replace Seyoum Kebede until the end of the year.

Asrat was handling the Addis Ababa women team on the current season before assuming the men team’s responsibility.

Seyoum resigned from his post in the morning citing inability to save the club from relegation months after guiding the capital city club to their inaugural premier league outing. The club board wasted no time to announce Seyoum’s successor as they hand the job to the women team coach Asrat. Asrat’s immediate task will be getting better results to avoid relegation. Addis Ababa Ketema sits rock bottom with 10 points from 16 games. Addis Ababa Ketema will visit Jimma Aba Bunna on round 17 fixture of the topflight league on Sunday.

The ex Dedebit women team coach Asrat Abate is well known for his coaching success in Ethiopian women football. He guided the Ethiopian U-20 girls national team to the last qualifying round of the FIFA U-20 Girls World Cup. The coach and his charges narrowly missed the qualification after being beaten by Ghana. He also assembled the Ethiopian U-17 girls team for the U-17 World Cup, although the team lost its first round qualifier against Cameroon on penalty shootouts.
