Ėtoile du Sahel Hand Trails for Ethiopian Duo

Tunisian giants Ėtoile du Sahel have given Ethiopia U-17 players Chala Teshita and Mikias Mekonen a 20 days try outs as Soccer Ethiopia learnt. There have been ongoing negotiations between unnamed Tunisian agent and the Sousse based club for the trials to undergo.

Striker Chala and midfielder Mikias impressed the club while playing in the U-17 Nations Cup qualifier as they both netted a goal on a surprising 3-1 win over Egypt in Cairo. Their performances triggered interest from North African and European agents. The players along with Mikias’s father Mr. Mekonen will travel to Sousse via Cairo on May 16. If they successfully completed their 20 days trials, Ėtoile du Sahel will be offering them a 2 years contract to join the youth team. If they continue to impress in the youth team, they will have a chance to get a promotion to the first team or perhaps sold to European clubs, a source told Soccer Ethiopia.

Both players should have went to Sousse weeks ago; however they opted to join national team camp as Red Foxes were in full gear to participate in the African U-17 Nations Cup replacing the suspended Mali. World’s football governing body FIFA lifted Mali’s suspension on April 28 as the West African nation were reinstated to take part in the U-17 Nations Cup which is being hosted by Gabon.

Chala has only joined premier league side Sidama Bunna on February after having a brief stint with Shashemene Ketema and Sululeta Ketema. Meanwhile, Mikias joined Addis Ababa side Ethiopia Bunna during the 2016 summer transfer window leaving Harar City U-17 team. Both players have not made any appearances in the 2016/17 Ethiopian Premier League season.
