Alexandria based club Smouha Sporting Club have acquired the service of Ethiopian international Oumed Okuri on a free transfer. Oumed, who left El-Entag El-Harby after the conclusion of his contract, put pen to paper a three year deal at The Blue Waves.
Oumed has been a top target for many clubs as his form in the 2016/17 Egypt Premier League attracted interest even from giants Zamalek. The former Mekelakeya striker struck 12 times in all competition while he was at El-Harby. It is reported that Smouha and Oumed have agreed on terms weeks ago but the transfer failed to be official due to the fact that the Alexandria side had been negotiating to release a non-Egyptian player to accommodate Oumed on the team. Oumed has already joined his new team and stared off a preseason with the club.
Smouha is established in 1949. Under the guidance of Egyptian coach Moamen Suliman the club wrapped up the 2016/17 season being 5th with 57 points. Under President Mohamed Farag Amer, who happens to be an Ehyptian millionaire and member of parliament, the club managed to participate in the 2015 Orange CAF Champions League and the 2017 Total CAF Confederations Cup, reaching the group stages in both occasions. The club have appointed Czech coach Františk “Franz” Straka to replace Suliman, who parted ways with the club after the end of the season.
Smouha is Oumed’s fouth Egtptian club. The striker previously donned the shirts of Ittihad Alexandria, ENPPI and El-Entag El-Harby.
