Relegation battlers Debub Police have captured the signature of the two experienced Nigerian forwards – Philip Dauzi and Lucky Sunny – on a one year deal.
Last Season Ethiopian Higher League Champions Debub Police are finding it difficult to cope with teams in the Ethiopian premier league; having played 10 matches so far, they only managed to win once and drawing two, and are currently ranked 15th. As it stands, she club are in pole position to be relegated from the top flight.
The Club was in desperate need of a center forward to relieve the burden that was solely given to Behailu Wogene after the departure of veteran Kenyan goal scoring machine Erik Muranda last summer. Behailu started most matches as an out and out striker, but has not delivered up to expectations. Last season top performer Biruk Elias is also struggling to replicate his fine form in the Premier League. Poor execution in the last third are amongst the major problems the club is currently facing.
Philip Dawzi first came in to Ethiopian football scene in the 2010/11 season playing for Ethio Electric and has spent a total of 5 and Half years playing in Ethiopia, turning out for Dedebit, CBE, and Fasil Kenema. He netted 19 Goals in 2015/16 season while playing for Bank to finish as the second top scorer in the league.
After the completion of the 2015/16 season, Philip moved to middle east where he played for Al-Nasser and Al-Shabab in kuawit and KSA respectively, eventually returning to the Ethiopian top tier after short lived stints. Following his departure from Fasil Ketema last season, Philip had remained a free agent.
Lucky Sunny was also a free agent after he parted ways with Addis Ababa Ketema last season. Lucky Sunny is plying his trade in Ethiopia since 2013/14, and has featured for for the likes of Wolkite ketema, Jimma Abba Bunna, Sidama Bunna and ArbaMinch Ketema.
With this acquisitions, it is expected that these experienced forwards will play a great role in the second half of the season, if the club is to avoid relegation.
