Day one action of game week three saw Fasil Kenema securing their first win of the the campaign with last-gasp victory over Sidama Bunna while Wolaita Dicha stun Ethiopia Medhin.
The first fixture of game week 3 saw Wolaita Dicha returning to wining ways as the edge Ethiopia Medhin 1-0.
Both sides made a single change in their starting XI from their last outing, Ethiopia Medhin handed Seid Hassen his full debut days after joining the side after terminating his contract with Hawassa Ketema in place of Adiss Tesfaye while Wolaita Dicha named Baye Gezahegne to replace Zelalem Abate.
The opening minutes of the first half saw an end to end action with both sides opting to play on front foot, on the 11th minute Habib Kemal who is a key cog in Ethiopia Medhin’s attack was forced to withdraw after sustaining an injury.
As the half progresses Wolaita Dicha seem to take the upper hand and eventually took the lead in the 21st minute, Abinet Demisse’s marvelous strike from outside the box gave Dicha the lead.
Minutes latter Dicha should have gone two goals to the good after Biniyam Fikre played Tsegaye Birhanu a very good ball to finish off but his poor touch let him down.
After the restart Ethiopia Medhin showed up with a much improved intent and had the upper hand but creating clear cut chances were an issue yet again, Wogene Gezahegne and Olisema Chenedu’s attempt were the ones worth mentioning but both failed to find the back of the net.
The slender win meant Wolaita Dicha returning to wining ways after they suffered a loss last time, they now rank 2nd with 6 points whereas Ethiopia Medhin suffered their first loss of the campaign after two successive positive results.
In the 6pm kickoff between two sides who are having an underwhelming start to the campaign saw Fasil Kenema grabbing all three points at the expense of Sidama Bunna.
Fasil Kenema made three changes from the side that drew with Ethiopia Medhin, Yonatan Fiseha reclaimed hia spot at left back while Natnael G/Giyorgis and Kalkidan Zelalem were named to accompany Getaneh Kebede upfront.Sidama Bunna on the other hand also made three changes from the side that shared points with Wolkite.Abenezer Asfaw, Habtamu Gezahegne and Fikreyesus T/Birhane were given a chance to impress from the nod.
Much was expected from the two sets of sides coming in the match but their was nothing to show for in majority of the playing minutes.
Wubetu Abate and Fasil Kenema who were in a desperate need of three points to relive some of the early pressure finally got what they want in the dying minutes of the second half.
On the 88th minute Sidama Bunna’s Git Gatgut scored an own goal that handed Fasil Kenema the all important three points before they take on in form Ethiopia Bunna next week.
And also the loss leave Seyoum Kebede and Sidama Bunna under pressure as they only collected a single point from the possible nine.
