The third day action of game week three saw two fixtures ending in a draw.
In the early kickoff, Minyelu Wondimu rescued a point for Mechal in the added minutes as they earned a hard fought point against Ethiopia Niged Bank.
Mechal made four cahnges from the side that lost to Bahir Dar Ketema. Mintesnot Adane, Girum Hagos, Samuel Saliso, and Cigioki Namdi were all introduced as a starter while Ethiopia Niged Bank named an unchanged lineup from the side that registered their first victory against Hadiya Hossana.
Ethiopia Niged Bank were upfront as of the 28th minute as Kitika Jimma opened his scoring account for his new colour combining with the Ghanian import Basiru Umar.
The match witnessed momentum swinging between the two sides, but as time ran out, Ethiopia Niged Bank played with more caution.
But eventually Mechal levelled matters deep into the six added minutes following the ninety, second half substitute Minyelu Wondimu converted from the spot after he was brought down in Niged Bank’s box.
The draw meant Mechal now have four points from three matches while Ethiopia Niged Bank are a point better.
In the late kickoff, Hawassa Ketema and Dire Dawa Ketema played out a goalless draw.
Hawassa Ketema made two changes from the side that beat neighbors Shashemene Ketema 1-0, Micheal Otuku and Bereket Samuel were on from the start in place of Medhane Birhane and Dawit Tadesse meanwhile Dire Dawa made three changes from the side that lost to Ethiopia Bunna. Abel Asebe, Yared Tadesse, and Asegahengn Petrose were on from the start for todays game.
In what was a very frustrating evening for both sides both sides were unable to create chances as the game ended in deadlock.
The draw meant unbeaten Hawassa Ketema has five points, while Dire Dawa Ketema is a point behind with four.
