Premier League Safety for Electric while Dashen Bira go down

The two times Ethiopian Premier League champions Electric pip Ethiopia Nigd Bank to remain in the league as Dashen Bira relegated form the topflight league after 3 seasons. ArbaMinch Ketema trounced Diredawa Ketema 4-1 while Ethiopia Bunna registered a 1-0 win over Wolaitta Dicha. Adama Ketema missed out a chance to finish the year being runner-up after they were held at home by Mekelakeya.

Electric secured premier league safety after coming out victorious against Ethiopia Nigd Bank. Nigerian Peter Nwadike drills a free kick from long range to score the solitary goal of the tie two minutes after the recess. Fistum Geberemariam should have done better when his chipped effort sailed wide leaving Bank goalie Emmanuel Fevour stranded. Bank did so little to salvage a point as Electric took home the three points.

Dashen Bira are brokenhearted after they went down to the Higher League even having beaten Sidama Bunna 1-0. Togolese Edom Hosorovi struck in the 38th minutes but it was not enough for Dashen to avoid relegation. Dashen will play next season in the Higher League after Electric condemned them to relegation.

ArbaMinch Ketema finished the league on a high note as they thumped Diredawa Ketema 4-1. Teshome Tadesse, Amele Milkias, Amanuel Gobena and winger Tadele Mengesha scored the winning goals for ArbaMinch whilst Belay Abayneh got the conciliation for the Easterners.

Gatoch Panom’s strike was enough for Ethiopia Bunna to overhaul Wolaitta Dicha behind closed doors in Abebe Bikilla Memorial Stadium. The win left Bunna second as Adama Ketema were held by Mekelakeya to a one all draw. Tafesse Tesafye gave Adama the lead as he bags his 15th goal of the season. Baye Gezaghen leveled matters for the Army Side before the end of the interval.

The league will get its conclusion on Wednesday.
