The summer transfer window of Ethiopia has opened last week on July 8. Premier league clubs have already lined up players to sign while some of them are monitoring the second and third tier leagues to sign players.
The 2015/16 premier league runner-ups Ethiopia Bunna parted ways with Serbian coach Dragan Popadic as Bunna opted not to extend the contact of the Serb last week. The club have confirmed that they have secured the signing of midfielder Abdulkerim Hassan on a two years deal. The former Kidus Giorgis and Electric player joined the Addis Ababa outfit after being released by Ethiopia Nigd Bank. Bunna have also extended the contact of center back Ephrem Wendwosen. It is a relief for Bunna that combative midfielder Gatoch Panom will stay as he honors his 6 month contract. David Beshah, who represents the player, confirmed to Soccer Ethiopia that the midfielder will continue with Bunna.
Nigerian import Philip Dauzi is expected to join a new club next week. Philip, who was released by Nigd Bank, will sign a contract with unnamed club. David, who also represents the ex-Electric forward, contained himself from disclosing the club.
ArbaMinch Ketema are on the brink of extending the contracts of Amanuel Gobena and Abebe Tilahun. The South Ethiopia based club avoided relegation this season but need to keep key players for next season. The club is already in talks with striker Teshome Tadesse and Tadele Mengesha. Tadele is in 2015/16 season Ethiopian champions Kidus Giorgis wish list. Winger Teretaye Demeke couldn’t agree terms with the club as his departure from ArbaMinch is inevitable. Teretaye has been deployed as a right back after Endale Kebede joined ArbaMinch in the mid-season from Sidama Bunna. ArbaMinch have released Melkamu Fundrea, Wendemeneh Bekri and Bereket WeldeTsadik.
Wolaitta Dicha coach Mesay Teferi turned his face to the Higher and National League to recruit new players. Dicha took the last resort of signing players from the second and third tier leagues. Coach Mesaye is currently attending Higher League games and he is expected to attend the National League playoff which is staged in South East of the capital in Batu. The Boditi based club have held talks with players who are out of contract.
The 2017 CAF Confederation Cup participants Mekelakeya are in negotiation with Ethiopian national team and Mugher Cement custodian Abel Mamo on possible move. The Army side might lose the service of Firew Solomon, Jemal Tassew and Mulualem Tilahun, sources close to the club cliam.
