Jimma Aba Bunna Promoted to the Premier League

Jimma Aba Bunna have won promotion to the Ethiopian Premier League after a goalless stalemate with Werabe Ketema in the Higher League reserve match. The Jimma based club have been in a good form throughout season as their imminent arrival to the topflight league was long overdue.

Aba Bunna just needed a point to secure promotion the Premier League for the first time. That fate was achieved when they settle for a 0-0 draw with third placed Werabe Ketema. The club tops group B of the Higher League with 61 points, 13 points clear of Werabe.

Jimma Aba Bunna was established by the Jimma Agricultural College in 1954/55. The club have been an active participant in the country’s football in the 1960’s but became dysfunctional through the years. The club yet again re-established in 2013. Jimma Aba Bunna have now become the 43rd club to participate in the topflight league since the Premier League restructured in 1997/98 season.
