Hawassa Ketema have been crowned champions of the Ethiopian U-17 League Cup after beating local rivals Wolaitta Dicha in Boditi. Hawassa, who have just ended the season being champions of the league, overcome Dicha on penalty shootout to grab a maiden league double.
The two sides played out a 3 all draw in the regular time before Hawassa prevailed 4-2 winners on the penalty shootout. Lijalem Melaku, Sisya Mamea and Kibru Belete were on target for Wolaitta Dicha whilst Yared Mahmoud, Gebremeskel Duba and Israel Eshetu were on the score sheet for the champions. Hawassa goalie Alazar Merne played a key role as he saved two penalties.
This has been a successful and memorable year for Hawassa as they won the U-17 double and the south east zone.
