Fixtures of the new Ethiopian Premier League season released

The fixtures of the new Ethiopian Premier League season were released today in a ceremony held at the Capital Hotel and Spa. The drawing of lots was made in the presence of the management of the Federation, representatives of the 16 clubs, and former players.  The first week fixtures are the following:

Kidus Giorgis Vs Arbaminch Ketema (Addis Ababa)

Sidama Buna Vs Fasil Ketema (Yirgalem)

Ethiopia Buna Vs Dedebit (Addis Ababa)

Wolaita Dicha Vs Mekelakeya (Boditi)

Hawassa Ketema Vs Addis Ababa Ketema (Hawassa)

Jimma Aba Bunna Vs Ethio Electric (Jimma)

Woldia Ketema Vs Ethiopia Nigd Bank (Woldia)

Adama  Ketema Vs Diredawa Ketema (Adama)

During the assembly, a comprehensive report of the last premier league season was presented to the congregation, and plans were approved for the upcoming season. A law that forces Premier League clubs who finish the season with less than 25 points to be relegated to the 3rd division was among the new changes proposed, but a consensus among the stake holders was not reached. The number of clubs who will be promoted to the Premier League was decreased to 3, with winners of the Super League groups advancing along with a winner of the playoffs between the 2nd placed teams.

The registration fee for clubs taking part in the League was raised despite the complaint of many teams. The Federation has received the complaints and stated that it will reconsider the decision.

The League is expected to kickoff on October 30 with the dates for the fixtures to be announced in the near future.
