Chamber of Commerce to Sponsor Addis Ababa Ketema

Ethiopian Premier League rookies Addis Ababa Ketema FC has landed the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association as the club’s first ever official sponsor. The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday night at Hilton Hotel on award giving ceremony of the Addis Ababa Ketema FC.
Addis Ababa Ketema will get some items from the Chamber of Commerce as stated by the club’s board chairperson Mr. Aseged Getachew on a short press briefing. Mr. Aseged further noted the capital city’s administration do want the club to be financial independent and be the people’s club. The city administration is also in search for an entity that can take the club’s ownership. Among the entities considered to take the ownership is the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association.
The city administration has also bestowed prize money to players and technical staff for the success the capital city outfit achieved on 2015/16 Higher League season. Addis Ababa Ketema finished off their Higher League campaign third and has won the Fair Play trophy. Addis Ababa Ketema trainer Seyoum Kebede, assistant coach Beselote, goalkeeper coach Meserte and team physician Bekele received 75,000, 40,000, 40,000 and 20,000 Birr respectively. The city administration rewarded players based on their merits ranging from 70,000 Birr – 5,000 Birr. Outgoing club manager Endaleysus Abate cashed in 45,000 Birr.
Addis Ababa Ketema incepted five years ago, in 2011, on the wake of the capital city’s 125th year anniversary. The club went on to enjoy promotion to the top tier league on 2016.
