Ethiopian Nigd Bank and Adama Ketema Cruise to AA City Cup Semis Adama Ketema power past Addis Ababa Ketema 2-1 while Ethiopia Nigd Bank lost 2-1 to Dedebit on their last group game duel in Addis Ababa Stadium. Adama Ketema and Ethiopia Nigd Bank storm to the semis of the City Cup.
Addis Ababa Ketemas hope of a maiden City Cup semifinal outing dwindled after suffering a 2-1 loss to visitors Adama Ketema. A goalkeeping error from Addis Ababas custodian Dereje gifted Adama the lead in the 14th minute as Bereket Desta scored the first goal. Former Kidus Giorgis winger Yonatan Birhane rose and headed home seven minutes later to put the capital city club on level terms. Tesfaye Negash fired past Dereje in the 41st minute as the teams went to break 2-1. Addis Ababa Ketema could not score goals as they faced early elimination from the group.
Ethiopia Nigd Bank fall to Dedebit on the other encounter but went through to the semis on a superior goal difference. Dedebit took the lead barely after 4 minutes from the onset through Abel Yalew who dribbled past Bank defenders and score a beautiful goal. Bank should have equalized in the 24th minute but Ameha Beletes goal bound strike could only hit the upright. Dawit Fikadu doubled Dedebits lead in the in the 36th minute after a superb cross from the right flank. Daganachew Bekele pulled one back for the bankers in the second half after a scramble on Dedebits goal area. The result saw Bank progressing to semis on a goal difference.
The semifinal ties will be played on Wednesday as Kidus Giorgis tackle Ethiopia Nigd Bank and Ethio-Electric facing Adama Ketema.
