Ethiopia Bunna Sack Nebojša Vučićević, Appoints Gezaghen Ketema as Interim Coach

Ethiopian Premier League club Ethiopia Bunna have sacked Serbian manager Nebojša Vučićević after a dreadful start of the season.

The club confirmed the news on their official Facebook page by noting further details will be communicated in the coming days regarding Vučićević’s dismissal. Assistant trainer Gezaghen Ketema assumed the coaching role as fomer club captain Edelu Dereje become assistant coach.

It has been a rocky road for the former Partizan Belgrade attacker Vučićević. His Ethiopia Bunna side managed to win only two ties out of the 9 league encounters. The trainer saw his side losing an away game against newly promoted side Woldia SC last Friday just days after beating archrivals Kidus Giorgis in Sheger Derby. A series of unimpressive results are believed to trigger the Serbs dismissal.

Interim coach Gezaghen worked as an assistant coach and youth team coach for a longer time at the one time Premier League champions. Gezaghen was Serbian Dragan Popadic’s assistant last season. Edelu, a former Ethiopian international, is assuming the assistant trainer role for the second time following his short-lived assistant coaching role under Popadic in 2015/16 season.

Ethiopia Bunna are the second club to sack a coach this season following Dedebit’s move to change their technical bench led by Yohannis Sahle. Ethiopia Bunna host Hawassa Ketema in the week 10 of the topflight on Tuesday at the Addis Ababa Stadium.
