West Ethiopian outfit Jimma Aba Bunna have confirmed Gebermedhin Haile as their new trainer following the departure of Dereje Belay from the club on Sunday.
Coach Dereje led his charges to a deserved one all draw against reigning champions Kidus Giorgis on week 12 premier league encounter. The coach expressed he would leave his post as Aba Bunna coach citing external factors hindering him from doing his job. Jimma Aba Bunna and Dereje parted ways amicably. The club started off their debut league season on the wrong foot.
The club started recruitment of a new coach last week as Soccer Ethiopia learned. Aba Bunna has selected Gebremedhin to succeed Dereje. Geberemedhin was unemployed after his stay with the Ethiopian national team elapse in early October. Known as prolific striker in his playing days, Gebermedhin coached Trans Ethiopia, Ethiopian Nigd Bank, Ethiopia Bunna, Ethiopia Medhin, Dedebit and Mekelakeya. He led Mekelakeya to an Ethiopian Cup glory twice.
The new head coach is said to start his job on Tuesday afternoon. His immediate task will be getting better results in Jimma. Jimma Aba Bunna hosts Woldia SC in the week 13 premier league tie at Jimma Stadium.
