Sidama Bunna, Hawassa Ketema and Dire Dawa registered victories at home on week 14 fixtures of the premier league. Meanwhile, table toppers Kidus Giorgis, Adama Ketema and Dedebit dropped points as they missed out a chance to widen gap at the top.
Goals from Nigerian Lucky Bariledum Sunny and Addis Gidey handed Sidama Bunna a sweet 2-0 victory over Dedebit in Yirgalem. Sunny put Sidama ahead 8 minutes following the kickoff. Addis sealed the win in the 84th minute from the spot as Sidama Bunna moved back to fourth place with 24 points, 2 points adrift from the leaders.
Hawassa Ketema roar back from behind to beat Jimma Aba Bunna 2-1 at home in relegation dogfight. Jimma took the lead in the first interval courtesy of Ame Mohammed’s strike. Hawassa hit back in the 59th minute when Firew Solomon converted a penalty kick. Wnger Gadissa Mebrate put Hawassa ahead with a wonder strike from 25 meters out. Hawassa Ketema elapsed a 10 game winless streak with a win over struggling Jimma Aba Bunna.
Habtamu Wolde struck early to salvage maximum points for Dire Dawa Ketema against Fasil Ketema. Dire Dawa has been in crisis after failing to win a game for weeks but they managed to pip Fasil Ketema in Dire Dawa Stadium.
A late Menetesnote Adane goal denied Addis Ababa Ketema a famous win over reigning champions Kidus Giorgis. Haile Eshetu gave the capital city club the lead five minutes before break with a great finish inside the area. But Menetesnote ensure Mart Nooji’s side stayed at the top with his late strike.
Ethio-Electric forced a 1-1 draw against Woldia. Andualem Nigusse’s 4th minute strike was canceled out Fitsum Gebremariam in the 73rd minute. Elsewhere, the duels between Adama Ketema and Mekelakeya ended in a barren draw. In Sodo Wolaitta Dicha and ArbaMinch Ketema shared spoils in Denguza Derby.
Kidus Giorgis still holds the top position with 26 points, Adama are second with the same point tally only inferior in goal difference. Dedebit and Sidama Bunna are third and fourth with 24 points while Ethiopia Bunna occupies fifth with 23 points. Hawassa Ketema, Jimma Aba Bunna and Addis Ababa Ketema are 14th, 15th and 16th respectively.
