Minyelu on mark as Mekelakeya shoot down Addis Ababa Ketema

Mekelakeya bounced back from last week’s set back with a victory over Addis Ababa Ketema in Addis Ababa on round 23 of the Ethiopian Premier League.

The game had been a relegation dogfight as the Army side registered a crucial win over the rock bottom club, Addis Ababa Ketema. Mekelakeya goalie Abela Mamo denied Fikadu Alemu twice in the first interval while Addis Ababa Ketema’s custodian Dereje Alemu pulled off a save from Yetesha Gizaw’s goal bound effort. Minyelu Wendimu struck the solitary goal three minutes after the half hour mark when he nods in a Mikael Desta cross.

The capital city club piled on the pressure in the second interval to get a leveler but they couldn’t create clear cut goal scoring opportunities as they fall to Mekelakeya. Mekelakeya occupies 12th with 27 points whilst Addis Ababa Ketema are bottom with 16 points.
