Ethio-Electric hold off Sidama Bunna to a barren draw in Addis Ababa as late goal earned Jimma Aba Bunna a vital win over Wolaitta Dicha in a relegation dogfight.
ArbaMinch Ketema 1-1 Mekelakeya
Mekelakeya scored late as they shared spoils with ArbaMinch Ketema. The Crocodiles dominated the proceedings but were unlucky not to win the tie. Endale Kebede turned in a Wendemeneh Zerihun’s cross in the 22nd minute. ArbaMinch continued to pile pressure on the visitors for the reminder of the game; however Tewodros Tafese struck a free kick from 30 meters to put the Army side on level terms. Adama Ketema roar back from behind to beat Addis Ababa Ketema 3-1. Ali Ayana struck a beautiful volley from 35 meters out as he puts the capital city club in front. Adama equalized in the 33rd minute when Surafel Dagnachew’s goal bound effort deflected in by Addis Hintsa. It is Adama’s first league goal in year at the Addis Ababa Stadium. Dawa Hotessa scored the second deep into the second half before Mujib Kassim headed home in the stoppage time. Adama Ketema’s title hunt is still on as they cruise to 4th with 42 points. Addis Ababa Ketema sits rock bottom with 19 points.
Hawassa Ketema 0-1 Ethiopia Bunna
Ethiopia Bunna managed to win an away league tie in Hawassa after 10 years wait. Hawassa mostly dominated the league meetings in recent years but today it was Bunna who notched a result away from home. Hawassa were the better side of the two in the first interval as the Addis Ababa outfit struggled. Firew Solomon failed to convert a penalty just before the first interval. The second half saw relatively a good Ethiopia Bunna side. Asechalew Girma scored a rebound 14 minutes before time after Gatoch Panom rattled the woodwork. The win took Ethiopia Bunna to third with 42 points. Hawassa Ketema are 7th with 31 points.
Jimma Aba Bunna 1-0 Wolaitta Dicha
Jimma Aba Bunna scored late as they edge Wolaitta Dicha in Jimma. Haider Sherefa struck in the 90th minute the solitary goal of the game. Both sides are fighting relegation this season after poor performance throughout the season induced them to dangle at the bottom. The Sodo side were on high note as they beat Hawassa on week 24 while Aba Bunna lost in Yirgalem. Nonetheless, Jimma Aba Bunna managed to win the tie to get out of the drop zone. Jimma Aba Bunna are 13th with 27 points while Wolaitta Dicha occupies 14th with 26 points.
Ethio-Electric 0-0 Sidama Bunna
Title contenders Sidama Bunna missed out on a chance to top the log table as they settled for a goalless draw against Ethio-Electric. In heavily contested duel Sidama Bunna failed to find the back of the net even if they had some opportunities. Lucky Bariledum Sunny scored a header in the second hald but was ruled offside. Electric’s defender Awot Gebremicheal denied Fitsum Teferi with a perfect goal line clearance deep in to the second interval. Second half substitute Tsegaye Balcha also saw his goal bound effort parried away by Soulimana Abou. Electric had some chances through Awot and Fitsum Gebremariam, however Lealem Birhanu easily collected their efforts. Sidama Bunna are 2nd with 43 points, the same as leaders Kidus Giorgis. Ethio-Electric are 12th with 28 points.
