PL relegation battle: Electric, Dicha, Bank, Jimma Aba Bunna, DireDawa in the mix 

The premier league relegation battle took a big twist with four of the main contenders for the drop involved in decisive win on week 29 of the topflight league encounter. Wolaitta Dicha, Ethio-Electric, Jimma Aba Bunna and Ethiopia Nigd Bank have managed to secure maximum points while Fasil Ketema hold another relegation battler Dire Dawa Ketema to a goalless draw.

Wolaitta Dicha overcome ArbaMinch Ketema 1-0 in ArbaMinch. Fetudin Jemal’s early strike was enough for the Sodo side to collect crucial points and cruise to safety. Dicha have also managed to beat ArbaMinch last week in Ethiopian Cup first round fixture.

Ethiopia Nigd Bank shocked Ethiopia Bunna in a game played out in Addis Ababa Stadium. Ex Bunna striker Biniyam Assefa struck twice in the first interval as the Bankers stunned Ethiopia Bunna. Frustrated Ethiopia Bunna fans exhibited their disapproval on their team’s recent poor run of results.

Jimma Aba Bunna came out victorious against Hawassa Ketema as they won 2-0 in Jimma. Haider Sherefa and Surafel Awel scored the winning goals for the West Ethiopian outfit. Elsewhere in Gonder, Fasil Ketema and Dire Dawa Ketema settled for a point each after ending their game barren draw.

Woldia could only manage to lose 2-0 to Ethio-Electric. The encounter kicked off 50 minutes late following security forces arrived to the pitch tardily.

On Thursday, league champions Kidus Giorgis thrashed the already relegated Addis Ababa Ketema 3-0. Ivorian import Bruno Kone bagged a barce while Ramkel Lok struck the other goal in the first interval as the CAF Champions League group stage participants took a 3 goal cushion.

Wolaitta Dicha climbed to 11th with 33 points. Meanwhile, Ethio-Electric and Dire Dawa Ketema trade places with the Easterners drop into the relegation zone with 32 points and Ethio-Electric moving up to 12th. Jimma Aba Bunna are 13th while Ethiopia Nigd Bank are second from the bottom with 31 points. The last game of the league will be decisive for the relegation threatened sides.
