The 2018 FIFA U-17 Girls World Cup, which is due in South American nation Uruguay, African zone qualifier fixtures are released by CAF on Monday, August 8. Ethiopia will face Kenya in preliminary round fixture.
The Ethiopian Girls U-17 national team will be facing Kenya. The first leg game is slated for mid-October where the return leg will be at the end of October 2017. The winner of the duel slug it out against Nigeria in the first round encounter which is scheduled for December 2017. The final and second qualifying round will kick off on February 2018.
The Ethiopian U-17 Girls national team under the guidance of Coach Asrat Abate were in course of achieving qualification to the last edition of the U-17 Girls World Cup in Jordan, only to be eliminated by Cameroon after they succumbed to a 5-4 on penalty loss in Addis Ababa. Coincidentally, Ethiopia and Kenya will also lock horns in the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup first round qualifier tie.
Seventeen African nations will take part in the qualifying rounds, where ten countries will battle it out to book a place in the first round. Tunisia, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Cameroon automatically qualified to the first round.
