Ethiopian international Walid Atta has agreed to join Eastern Saudi Arabia side Al Khaleej FC after leaving Najran SC on a mutual consent. The center back spent the last 4 month out on loan with Norwegian topflight side Sogndal Fotball as he rejoined Najran in August but left before even the first division kick start this month.
Walid, 31, has been taking part on Najran’s preseason preps but left the club citing internal problems within the club induced his decision to look elsewhere. “I have decided to leave Najran for Khaleej FC due to the fact that Najran have so many problems within the club. I have agreed to join Khaleej after my contract with Najran was annulled.” Walid exclusively told Soccer Ethiopia after signing a deal with Al Khaleej FC.
The former BK Haken, AIK and Dinamo Zagreb defender in the last 3 season alone donned the shirts of 6 clubs. Al Khaleej got relegated from the Saudi Professionla League at the end of the 2016/17 season. The club is hoping to gain a top tier league status in 2018/19 season.
Walid, a full Ethiopian international since 2015 after making his debut in African Cup of Nations qualifier duel against Mali, has won the Swedish league, cup and supercup titles with AIK and Helsingborg IF.
