The Ethiopian Football Federation have reportedly postponed the kickoff date of the 2017/18 Ethiopian Premier League, the 2016/17 Super Cup final and Ethiopian Women First and Second Division games.
The Federation previously scheduled to kick start the new season on October 28, nonetheless, the revised league fixtures set to commence a week later on November 4 and 5. The Federation citied the ongoing Addis Ababa City Cup, an annual preseason tourney contested between the Capital clubs and two invited teams, and inquiries from clubs for further pushing forward the commencement date. It can be recalled that the league was set to kick off on October 14 and then on October 28. Due to the rainy season and annual preseason tournaments the Federation failed to honor the kick off date of the league in three different occasions as reports of postponements and mediocre league administration system became a tradition in Ethiopian football.
The Ethiopian Super Cup final duel between reigning league champions Kidus Giorgis and Ethiopian Cup holders Wolaitta Dicha will now be played on October 29. Meanwhile, the newly incepted Women First and Second Divisions will now commence on November 11. The two divisions were about to start on October 27 before it was pushed back to November 4.
