Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed 8 Ethiopian FIFA international arbiters for the forthcoming Total Champions League and Confederations Cup encounters slated for February 2018. Among them one is a rookie to officiate in continental games after acquiring his FIFA international badge on January 2018.
Ethiopian arbiter Belay Tadesse will officiate the Champions League preliminary round tie between Tanzanian giants Young Africans and Seychelles outfit Saint Louis in Dar es Salaam. Linesmen Tigel Gizaw and Kinfe Yilma will assist the 2015/16 Ethiopian Premier League referee of the year award recipient whilst Amanuel Haileselassie is the fourth official. Tigel had officiated in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup which was hosted by Kenya December last year. The game will be played in the Tanzanian capital on Sunday February 11.
In the Confederations Cup preliminary round first leg, Lemi Nigusse is selected to officiate the match between Rwandan side APR FC and Anse Réunion of Seychelles. Lemi will be assisted by Temesgen Samuel and Kinde Musse. The fourth official is Tewodros Mitiku. Tewodros has become an international arbiter on January 2018 as he will be making his debut in the continental stage. Temesgen has also took part in the CAF African U-17 Nations Cup in Gabon last year. APR hosts Anse Réunion on Sunday, February 11 in Kigali.
