Soccer Ethiopia has learnt that reigning PSL champions Bidvest Wits handed trial stint for Ethiopian midfielder Gatoch Panom. The former Ethiopia Bunna player is expected to jet in to Johannesburg on Sunday, February 11, according to his agent David Beshah.
Gatoch has had unsuccessful negotiations on a possible return to his boyhood club Ethiopia Bunna at the start of January 2018. Although few premier league clubs showed interest in his service, Gatoch echoed through his representative David that he sought to play abroad. Gatoch terminated his 3 years contract with Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala in late December and as on a look out for a new club.
David told Soccer Ethiopia that Bidvest Wits handed a short-term tryouts. “Gatoch will be traveling to South Africa and have a trial with Bidvest Wits until Thursday. I hope the trial will go through smoothly.”
A South African agent has helped David in processing the trial. Gatoch’s proposed move to Egyptian side Wadi Degla failed to materialize. Bidvest Wits had been home to Ethiopian striker duo Fikru Teferra and Getaneh Kebede. Wits won the PSL last season but are now struggling to get results. They are 14th with 22 points in a 16 team’s league.
