Ethiopian forward Oumed Okuri struck the solitary goal when his side Smouha sweeps aside Tala’ea El Gaish in week 24 of the Egyptian Premier League. Shemeles Bekele’s Petrojet has also beaten El Nasr Club 1-0.
Alexandria based club Smouha bounced back from two defeats in row as they pip Tala’ea El Gaish in a tie played out at Cairo’s 30 June Air Defence Stadium on Friday, February 16. Oumed struck the lone goal three minutes before the end of the first interval. Tarek Taha Abdulhamid’s cross was headed in by the unmarked Oumed for the goal. Oumed was cautioned in the 78th minute.
The Blue Waves suffered two successive defeats at the hands of Petrojet where Shemeles got a brace in the duel and Zamalek in the previous round. The win ends a two games winless streak for Smouha under new coach Mimi Abdelrazek. The veteran Egyptian coach Talat Yusuf resigned from his post at the start of the week as Abdelrazek succeeded the ex Al Ahli Tripoli trainer.
Shemeles clocked 75 minutes when Petrojet beats bottom side El Nasr 1-0 at Cairo International Stadium on Thursday, February 15. Mohamed Salem 68th minute strike was the difference between the two sides. Shemeles, who was yellow carded in the first interval, made a way for Karim Tarek in the 75th minute.
Al Ahly tops the log table with 63 points while Smouha occupies 5th with 38 points. Petrojet are 10th with 31 points. On week 25 fixture Petrojet lock horns against Cairo giants Zamalek in Suez on Monday. Smouha’s game against Misr El Maqasa is postponed to another date as the Fayoum club will host Senegal champions Generation Foot in Total CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg during the midweek.
