Fikru Unveiled at Mohammedan SC

Indian side Mohammedan Sporting Club has officially unveiled Ethiopian striker Fikru Teferra. Fikru will be wearing the number 10 at the Kolkata side. Fikru who arrived from Johannesburg watched his teammates hammer Chennayin FC reserves side 4-0. After the unveiling ceremony Fikru stated he could not snub Mohammedan’s offer. “The chance to play for a club like Mohammedan SC was something I could not turn down.” He further noted “I think coming to Mohammedan SC was my destiny. I want to enjoy my football here and make the most of the opportunity Mohammedan SC have given me,” said the former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United striker.

Wolaitta Dicha

Wolaitta Dicha duo Bezabeh Meleyo and Arafat Djako are targeted by Egyptian sides after the two legged duel in CAF Confederations where the Bees of Tona emerged victorious over Zamalek. The Togolese attacker Djako is set to join an unnamed Egyptian topflight side while Bezabeh will be having a trial at the end of the season. The duo was key players in Zenebe Fisshea’s outfit recent surge in local and continental competitions. After becoming the first Ethiopian side to oust Zamalek from a CAF club competition, the Wolaitta Dicha delegation arrived at the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Reception parties were organized in Addis Ababa, Hawassa and Sodo, where the club is based at.

Higher League

Bahirdar Ketema continued on their recent amazing form as they beat Sebeta Ketema 1-0. Fikadu Worku headed in a Wessen Ali cross as the Waves of Tana collected maximum points at home. Bahirdar tops Group A with 31 points, four points clear of second placed Shire Endaselassie. Shire trounced AWSCOD 3-0 while Legetafo Legedadi fall to Federal Police 1-0. Dilla Ketema pip Kaffa Bunna 1-0 courtesy goal from Zenabu Zelelaye to take the top spot in Group B while Debub Police failed to maintain their lead after Hambericho stunned the Hawassa side 2-1.

Welwalo Adigrat University

Welwalo Adigrat University has completed the signing of goalie Yohannis Shekur. Yohannis was a free agent after leaving Fasil Ketema at the end of the 2016/17 season. The former Ethiopia Nigd Bank custodian put pen to paper a one year deal.

Hawassa Ketema

Hawassa Ketema has parted ways with striker Sadick Secho and Firdaweke Sisay. Sadick joined Hawassa from Ethiopia Bunna; however he failed to make any league appearance owing to injury prone half season. He has terminated his remaining 18 month contract in a mutual consent. Firdaweke had impressed many in his maiden season after being promoted from the youth side but he failed on the pecking order after he sustained injury.

Dedebit

Ethiopian premier league table toppers Dedebit manager Mikale Amdemeskel has stated his side will not be signing new players during the half season transfer window. “We managed to finish the half season on high with the players we have got at our disposal. We won’t be bringing new players and start to build a new side as we seek to continue being stronger in the second half of the season.” Dedebit face Wolaitta Dicha on week 16 fixture when the league resumes this Sunday.

ArbaMinch Ketema

ArbaMinch Ketema has released three players citing poor performance and injury. Wendemneh Zerihun, Gebremikale Yacob and former Ethiopian national team goalkeeper Sisay Bancha left the Crocodiles. Wendemneh and Gebremikale made few appearances due to injury.
