Ethiopian Premier League side ArbaMinch Ketema have announced that they have relieved head coach Eyob Maale from his duty on immediate effect after a dreadful away outings at the start of the second half of the season.
The club board was on conclave to decide on the fate of coach Eyob, who had been a former ArbaMinch Textile player, following a 3-0 thrashing to Wolwalo Adigrat University on Wednesday. Under his guidance the Crocodiles won 4, lost 5 matches and draw twice in 11 league ties to sit in the drop zone. ArbaMinch Ketema still dangles in the relegation zone owing to a poor away record in the league. Coach Eyob is the second trainer to get the axe after Tsegaye Kidanemariam faced a similar fate midway through to the league season.
Coach Eyob told Soccer Ethiopia that he found the decision to be surprising and the board would be judged for it in the future.
ArbaMinch Ketema will not hire a third new coach as assistant coach Matios Lema and goalie Jackson Fita are named interim managers to lead the club for the reminder of the season.
ArbaMinch Ketema are 14th with 19 points in the league. They host reigning champions Kidus Giorgis on Monday in week 22 of the topflight league fixture.
