Ethiopia Bunna will play ArbaMinch Ketema in the quarter final of the Ethiopian Cup after securing a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Woldia SC in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia Bunna took an early lead through Nigerian import Samuel Sanumi in the 18th minute but veteran striker Andualem Nigusse put Woldia on level terms minutes later with a rebound. Woldia were brave enough to create numerous scoring chances and the poor defensive organization of the hosts gave them a second goal as stroke of half time. Unmarked Andualem completed his brace with a wonderful headed goal.
Woldia could not hold off of their lead as Ethiopia Bunna piled on more pressure to grab in the equalizer. Elias Mamo’s perfect free kick rattled the post but Abubakher Nessero struck with the follow up. With the scores tied at 2-2, the game entered in to penalties as Ethiopia Bunna emerged victorious after Habtamu Shewalem spurred his kick.
Ethiopia Bunna, Fasil Ketema and ArbaMinch Ketema have so far confirmed their places at the quarter final.
