KF Skënderbeu Korçë crowned champions of the Albania Cup following a 1-0 win over KF Laçi on a game played out at Elbasan Arena. Ethiopian midfielder Biniyam Belay ended his maiden season in Europe being a double winner.
Biniyam started the duel from the bench he made appearance in the 88th minute. Skënderbeuon top Laçi thanks to a second half goal from Sabien Lilaj. A two times Albanian Footballer of Year gong winner Lilaj struck the lone goal in the 67th minute from the spot.
It is for the first time in history the Korçë based club triumph the Albania Cup after losing five finals previously. Biniyam bagged two goals in the Albanian Cup matches. Skënderbeu won the Superliga title weeks ago.
