Sweden born Naanol Tesfaye and his parents will travel to Addis Ababa on July 18 to discuss with the newly elected Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) president. The young prodigy has opened his doors to represent Ethiopia in youth level.
Former EFF boss Juneidi Basha has arranged for Naanol, who can be deployed as a left back, and his parents, to meet with the now incumbent Esayas Jira. “We have been in contact with the former EFF president who invited me to do trials and meet with the new EFF president. We planned mostly to discuss my future with the national team of Ethiopia.”
Naanol and EFF are expected to hold talks regarding his future international career.
Naanol, 14, caught the eyes of Leeds United and Manchester City after being spotted playing in a Sweden based football academy. Talks over his transfer to England have been going for over 4 months. Naanol told Soccer Ethiopia that he will be signing with a club real soon. “My agents want me to deal with the national team thing first. Afterwards I will be signing for a club,” said Naanol.
EFF is oftentimes criticized for their poor effort to lure players with Ethiopian origin. In recent time only Sweden based duo Yusuf Salah and Walid Atta have managed to represent the national side while multiple calls from the foreign based players to get opportunity in a friendly games usually being overlooked.
