Ethiopian midfielder Gatoch Panom has signed with Egyptian topflight side El Gouna his agent Abdulrahaman Magdy confirmed. Gatoch put pen to paper a three years deal with the Red Sea outfit.
Magdy, who happens to represent Omod Okuri and Shemeles Bekele, tweeted that the former Ethiopia Bunna player has completed his switch to El Gouna. Gatoch left Bunna in June 2017 to join Russian side Anzhi but the move seemed to be difficult for the midfielder who failed to get a much needed playing time. Gatoch terminated his contract with Anzhi and had tryout with South African PSL side Bidvest Wits before joining Mekele Ketema on a short term deal. At the North Ethiopian side Gatoch scored two league goals while becoming a regular at coach Yohannes Shale’s midfield.
Gatoch becomes the fourth Ethiopian to play in the Egyptian Premier League following Salahdin Said (Wadi Degela and Al Ahly), Omod Okuri (Ittihad Alexandria, ENPPI, El Entag El Harby and Smouha) and Shemeles Bekele (Petrojet).
El Gouna FC, established in 2003, first gained promotion to the topflight in 2008/09. After a brief period in the second division they managed to gain promotion back to the league in the just ended 2017/18 season.
