A resounding 4-2 win against neighbors Kenya meant that the Ethiopian U17 national team has booked its place in the Semi Finals of the CECAFA U17 Tournament which is taking place in Tanzania. Beyene Banja scored a hat-trick while Mentesenot Endrias added the other goal which means he now has a total of five goals in the competition.
The Red Foxes have won all of their group games in the competition and managed to top their group with 12 points and +11 goal difference.
Coach Temesgen Dana talked to Soccer Ethiopia after the latest game.
“We are very pleased that we made it to the Semi Finals. We are also happy that we topped the group and managed to win all of our games. We were able to accomplish this because we played consistently. The boys are playing as a team and that helped the strikers (Beyene and Mintesenot) to score many goals.”
The next challenge for the young troops in their road to the final will be a game against Rwanda on Saturday.
