AFCON U17 Qualifiers | Ethiopia will face Uganda in Sunday’s Final

The Ethiopian U17 national team progressed to the final of the CECAFA Zone U-17 AFCON qualifiers tournament after beating Rwanda 4-2 on penalties. The red foxes, as the U17 National side are affectionately known, had to navigate through a tricky semi-final tie with regular playing time ending in a 2-2 draw. Mintesnot Endrias scored both goals for Ethiopia to take his total tally in the competition to 7 goals in 5 games.

Ethiopia scored all four of their spot kicks while Rwanda missed two paving the way for the Red Foxes in their quest to win the tournament and qualify to the AFCON U17 competition.

In the Second Semi Final Uganda managed to beat hosts Tanzania 3-1 to book their place in Sunday’s final. A win for Tanzania would’ve meant that Ethiopia would qualify to the AFCON U17 competition, but now Temesgen Dana’s troops will have to beat Uganda to ensure progress.

The losers of today’s games, Rwanda & Tanzania, will play to win the Bronze Medal on Sunday at National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
