Ethiopia and Kenya drew 0-0 at Bahir Dar in a Group F qualifying encounter for the 2019 AFCON. Here are the thoughts of Ethiopia head coach Abraham Mebratu after the game:
” I am happy with the performance of my players. We can clearly see that we have a good team. We solved the concentration and tactical problems of the first half. We played better in the second half and tried to attack. Kenya has experienced players. They are tactically disciplined. They managed to accomplish their goal.”
The coach said that he doesn’t expect to be defensive at home:
” We don’t expect Kenya to play like today in the return tie. We will try to correct our mistakes and try to get a better result in Kenya.”
” We deserved to win. My players felt that they could have done better. We will take these feelings and try to use them to beat Kenya in the upcoming game.”
Abraham acknowledged his side’s issues upfront:
” We still have problems making our chances count. It’s a process. It is something we will improve in time as we keep on working together. But in general i am happy with the performance of my players.”
Importance of the next game:
” Kenya Coach Sebastien Migne said that the next game will be like a final and i agree with that. Sierra Leone’s ban might be lifted or sustained. That won’t be our concern now. We will fully concentrate on the next game.”
About the Fans:
” Words aren’t enough to describe the fans. They came all over to support the team. They were like a 12th player. They supported us throughout the 90 minutes. I would like to say thank you to the amazing fans.”
