Ethiopian international Shimeles Bekele has opted to join Miser El Makasa from Petrojet SC after spending Four sucesful years in Egypt with Petrojet.
Shimeles, who is currently the 2nd capitan of the senior Ethiopian National team, started his playing career in Hawassa Ketema before joining Kidus Giorgis in 2011.
He spent 3 productive years with the Horsemen and was an integral part of the Ethiopian National Team that qualified for the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa after a 31 years absence from the Tournament.
After his promising performance for Kidus Giorgis in the 2012 African Club Competitions and AFCON 2013, Shimeles moved to Ittihad Tripoli of Libya, and also had another short spell with Sudan giants El Merriekh Omdourman.
On July 2014 he moved again to North Africa, this time to Egypt, when he joined Premier League side Petrojet SC on the three year deal. He revived his club career in Egypt where he made 130 apperances in all competitions for Petrojet netting 30 Goals and assisting 10. He was particularly vital for his club this season, scoring 7 goals and assisting 3.
Following the opening of the winter transfer window, Shimeles joins EL Makkasa for an undisclosed fee, puting pen to paper on a four and half year deal. Misr El Makkasa finished the Egyptian Premier League as runners up last season, and are currently sitting 4th in the log.
Shimeles is the first midseason sigining for El Makkasa, who have released 3 players so far in the transfer window.
Shimeles may feature in Misr El Makkasa’s next fixture which is scheduled to be held Tomorrow when the club faces 5th placed Arab contractors in the Egyptian premier league.
