In his first match for his new team Misr El Makkasa, Ethiopian international Shimeles Bekele came off the bench in the second half to score twice and hand his side cruicial 3 points that lifted El Makkasa to 3rd in the league. El Makkasa came from behind to win 2-1 against Al Mokawloon Al Arab (Arab Contractors).
Shimeles, who switched his allegiance to El Makkasa from fellow Egypt Premier League side Petrojet a few days ago, was on the bench at the start of the match that was held at Fayoum Stadium.
Al Mokawloon Al Arab took the lead in the 31st minute thanks to Mohammed Samir successful spot kick.
But in the second half, debutant Shimeles played an instrumental role to turn the match round for El Makassa. Shimeles Bekele’s introduction into the game in the 57th minute turned the tides, as it only took him 7 minutes of play to score his first goal for El Makkasa.
He leveled the match in the 64th minute with a powerful header that riffled into the top corner. In the dying minutes of regulation time, Shimeles popped up again to score the winner with a neat finish and lift his side above their opponents.
Followings Today’s match, Shimeles is among the joint top scorers of the league with 9 goals, having scored 7 goals for his former club Petrojet in the first half of the season.
Misr El Makkasa currently sit 3rd in the league table, and have tough tasks ahead as they take on Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek consecutively in the coming weeks.
