Relegation battlers Dedebit FC and Debub Police SC, who are sitting at the bottom end of the Ethiopian premier league chart parted ways with their head coaches.
Founded in the late 1990s, Dedebit were promoted to Ethiopia’s top flight in 2009/10, was one of Ethiopia’s footballing powerhouses in the last decade.
The 2012/13 Ethiopian premier league champions are currently struggling to cope with the highly escalated budget demand of the league, due to this they decided to alter their base from Addis Abeba to Mekelle to attract sponsors and revive their survival as a club.
But things are not going as planned, the club is Currently agonizing on and off the field, With the financial difficulty hindering them from splashing the cash in the transfer market as they were used to do before. the club is currently sitting at the bottom of the league, and now parted ways with their head coach Elias Ibrahim and his Assistant Getu Teshome.
Elias Ibrahim, who started his coaching career with Dedebit’s youth team and also had a spell in Women’s team last season. A renowned Midfielder in the 1990s who played for the likes of Kidus Giorgis, Bankoch (CBE) and Electric also began his coaching career in Blue Army’s women team was then moved to the men’s side as an Assistant coach last season.
Following the tragic death of Nigguse Desta who was in charge of the team last year, Getu Teshome and Elias Ibrahim were given an interim coaching role for the remainder of the season and were given the full-time job last summer, but this season Dedebit only managed to collect only 4 points from the possible 33 sacked their head and assistant coach following a loss at home against Sehul Shire
Yidnekachew Alemu who is currently the clubs goalkeeping coach will be in charge of the club temporarily.
Last season Ethiopian Higher league Champions Debub Police also decided to terminate the contract of their head coach Zelalem Shiferaw after taking charge of the club last November.
After being crowned as the Ethiopian second-tier champions last August Debub police opted to swap Girma Taddese who led them to promotion by Zelalem Shiferaw.
In his second spell with Debub Police, Zelalem Shiferaw’s side returned to the premier league after eight years absence entered the transfer market very late which hindered them from recruiting the quality players they desired and massive squad overhaul in the summer led them to their current poor run of form. the 15th placed Debub Police has only managed to win only once and drawing twice in 13 Weeks top-flight journey.
Zelalem Shiferaw, who had a vast experience in managing teams in the top tier, was in charge of three different clubs in the last two seasons.
The club’s Assistant coaches Yalew Temsgen and Addisu Tueno will be leading the club in the coming days until a new trainer is named.
