St. George goalie Patrick Matasi and Ethiopia Bunna striker Hussien Shabani named in their respective countries provisional squad for 2019 AFCON preparation.
Patrick Matasi who switched from Tusker FC to St. George last summer was an integral part of the Kenyan national side that secured qualification For AFCON in group “F” which includes Ethiopia. the 31-year-old Kenyan international Patrick Matasi has been included in Sebastian Migne’s 30 men provisional squad that will be traveling to France till June 18.
Kenya was previously placed in Group”C” alongside Algeria, Senegal, and neighbors Tanzania, they will be kicking there AFCON campaign with a match against Algeria on June 23.
The Burundian Hussien Shabani who joined Ethiopia Bunna in the mid season transfer window is also called for his country, Debutants Burundi head coach Olivier Niyungeko has released a 28 man list including Stoke city’s forward Saiedo Berahino.
Burundi has been drawn in Group “B” alongside Nigeria, Guinea, and Madagascar, their opening game will be against Nigeria on June 22.
The 2019 edition of AFCON which is scheduled to hold from June 21 up to July 19 in Egypt will be the first AFCON held on June and 24 teams will take part.
