The Ethiopian football federation has today unveiled Birhanu Gizaw as the new Ethiopian women’s national team head coach. 23 players’ provisional squad list for CECAFA women’s cup was also released.
The 3rd Edition of the CECAFA women’s cup will be taking place next month in Tanzania and Ethiopia has been drawn in “Group B” alongside Uganda, Kenya, and Djibouti.
Birhanu Gizaw, serial Ethiopian women’s premier league winner with his formidable CBE side is one of the most decorated footballing figures in Ethiopia’s women football, his appointment was imminent after Selam Zeray’s contract with the national team expired a few months ago.
Meanwhile, the player’s call up was surprisingly made from merely 4 clubs with 20 women side scattered along with the two national league divisions.
The surprise package in the mix is surely veteran Tiruanchi Mengesha returning to the national side after a years absence.
